About

This is a blog on Neocities I started to scratch a tabletop RPG writing itch, mostly in the OSR / NSR sphere.

Why a blog?

There's a lot of old Internet charm in carving out a space of my own to dick around with! But also a large part of the indie TTRPG sphere is squirreled away in blogs across the web. You can see a lot of them in this excellent post from Prismatic Wasteland. Creating this space lets me throw ideas against the wall in a way that honors and extends the influences that got me here.

I also have a dream that this blog stay up even when I move on, allowing the information here to exist in a sort of digital ruin, or snapshot of who I was while using it.

Why Neocities?

The only other solid option for low-effort hosting (imo) is Blogger, which is owned by a scrappy little company with a history of shutting sites down on short notice and fracturing past tabletop movements. Do I think Blogger is going away anytime soon? No, not really. But if I'm throwing my hat in any ring, I'm ride or die with the DIY upstarts over anyone else. Or maybe I just got brainworms from Hypnospace.

Why tabletop RPGs?

They hit all the marks for me: creative outlet, group storytelling, gambling, drinking in that new weird high, taking one step around the dark corner and instantly dying. Most of my preferences lean rules-light and setting-heavy -- Electric Bastionland is my poison of choice. To me, it offers the quickest path from brain to game.
